Santa Barbara, 1980 TECHNICAL COURSES: Slope Stability and Landslides, Seismic Hazards Analysis, Soil Stratigraphy for Trench Logging, Analysis of Landslides: Shear Strengths, Testing, and Stability
Methods AFFILIATIONS: Member - Association of Engineering Geologists EXPERIENCE: Consulting Engineering Geologist, 9/93 to Present Conducting a variety of engineering geologic investigations as a private consultant on a contract basis. Specializing in fault investigations, landslide investigations, and engineering geologic investigations for new construction or repair of distressed properties. Engeo, Inc., Senior Geologist 5/90 to 8/93 Conducted and supervised geotechnical studies of commercial and major residential developments in the San Francisco Bay Area. Investigations included: fault location studies, landslide hazard identification studies, and ground water basin analysis. Upp Geotechnology, Inc., Project Geologist 1/86 to 4/90 Planned and managed geotechnical investigations, including: geologic hazards assessment, landslide evaluations and repairs, fault location studies, new hillside construction sites, distressed property, and environmental impact reports. Tasks included: project development, planning, field mapping, topographic mapping, aerial photographic analysis, literature review, subsurface exploration, supervision of staff, analysis of data, and report writing. Upp Geotechnology, Inc., Staff Geologist 4/84 to 12/85 Field tasks included: field mapping, logging of exploration trenches and test borings, measurement of inclinometers, nuclear density testing, and collection of samples for a variety of geotechnical projects. Also performed laboratory tests of soil properties, analyzed data, and wrote reports. U.S. Geological Survey, Phys. Science Tech. 11/80 to 12/85 Participated in design and construction of a laboratory model simulating debris flow landslide phenomena. Drafted maps and diagrams, and assisted Geologists in field.
